THE PERFECT SANDWICH OF SIDE PROJECTS
Everyone needs a side project, a hustle of sorts to push you forward and drive your creativity outside of the normal working space. From my love of Podcasts, Sandwiches, Content and 80s nostalgia. Myself a Product Designer and my friend Greg Nye a Digital Content Writer decided it upon ourselves to create and produce a sandwich review podcast.
Because why not? No one else was doing it and we had the ability to combine our skills to utilise design thinking and content SEO to create something that people enjoy and might one day turn some revenue while having fun at the same time.
APPLYING BRAND TO AUDIO
We needed to somehow stand out from the crowd in the audio podcast space, So we created a brand that was eye-catching with and instantly recognisable through whatever channel that might be whether it was Social, Emails, Websites, Podcast Artworks. The neon colours standing out from dark retroscape backgrounds provided this unique look and set off an 80s retro vibe.
The retro 80s vibe is key to our brand and needed to also come through into the audio too. I spent a lot of hours crafting sound bites, soundscapes and 80s retro musical compositions so that we could easily apply intros, outros, and specialised sections when editing each new episode.
